About AVN Raccoon Studio — Behind the Lens
Behind every game is a player who wanted to see a specific story come to life. AVN Raccoon Studio isn't just a label; it's a personal project dedicated to 2D adult visual novels that prioritise fun, character-driven plots, and a tone that stays light even when the clothes come off.
The Vision: Fun, Sexy, and Unapologetically 2D
I’ve been a player of Adult Visual Novels (AVNs) long before I started writing my own. What I’ve always loved about the genre is the ability to tell intimate, branching stories that can be both hilarious and incredibly hot.
At AVN Raccoon Studio, I focus on 2D aesthetics. There’s something timeless about hand-drawn or stylized 2D art that 3D renders often miss—a warmth and an expressive quality that fits the "lighthearted" vibe I'm aiming for.
Why the University Setting?
Most of my stories, including Not Even Looking, are set on or around a university campus. Why? Because it’s a time of life that feels full of possibility (and awkwardness).
Writing about campus life is a way for me to revisit my own youth—though I’ll be the first to admit that I was significantly less smooth and much more studious than the protagonists of my games! It’s the perfect backdrop for the kind of "what-if" scenarios that make AVNs so addictive.
The Philosophy: Keep it Light
The real world has enough heavy, complex problems. When I open an AVN, I want to escape into a world that is décalé (off-beat), fun, and sexy.
- No Drama for Drama's sake: I prefer witty banter over tragic backstories.
- Player Agency: My games use a custom-built engine (similar to Ren'Py) designed to handle complex branching choices without getting in the way of the story.
- Character First: Whether it's the actress Alice or the strategist Eve, I want the women in my games to feel like they have their own voices.
What’s Next?
While the campus setting is my current home, my library and film collection tell a different story. I am a massive fan of Science Fiction and Post-Apocalyptic settings.
In the future, I plan to take the AVN Raccoon Studio signature—that light, fun, and sexy tone—and transplant it into the ruins of a fallen civilization or onto a ship drifting through the stars. Imagine a world where the stakes are high, but the chemistry is higher.
